Dear David, Casey, and Kira,

Congratulations! On behalf of the Collective, we are excited to provide Muddy Sneakers with a $10,000 gift each year for 3 years to be used as best needed to support your mission.

We learned about Muddy Sneakers through our own experience as participants and were inspired by your commitment to getting kids outside and engaged with the natural world. Your work aligns deeply with what the Collective cares about: hands-on learning, environmental stewardship, and making sure every child has access to meaningful outdoor experiences.

We selected Muddy Sneakers because we believe your programs make a real difference in how kids see themselves and the world around them. We are proud to support that work and excited to see where it goes.

Included with this email is the official memorandum with the full details of the grant, including payment schedule and any applicable requirements. Please review and let us know if you have any questions.

We look forward to staying connected and learning more about the impact of your programs.

Dream Assemblage

The dream goes like this: you are sitting at a small seaside cafe. Your table is on the edge of a large peak of land that overlooks beautiful, sea glass tides that wash up and kiss the rocks below you. You do not fear the height, if anything, it inspires you. You bring a white coffee cup to your lips and are greeted with warm, ambrosial, cinnamon foam followed by the most palatable coffee your taste buds have ever known. You put the cup down on a black, grated table in front of you next to a leather-bound journal. You pick up your ballpoint and start again, this one is a masterpiece.

The dream goes like this: flashes of colored lights are forming all around you. They remain long enough for you to admire the little flecks of dust they illuminate, then they disappear. You imagine the dust particles come to this place for reasons of their own. To dance, to love, but mostly, to just exist.

The dream goes like this: you are on a crowded dance floor. The bass vibrates through the soles of your shoes and up into your chest. You do not know anyone here, and that is the point. You are free in the anonymity of movement, of sound, of bodies that do not ask your name. Somebody bumps into you and laughs and you laugh too. The music is loud enough to drown out everything you have been carrying.

The dream goes like this: you are sitting at a dimly lit bar. A single candle flickers between you and a person you have not met yet. They are telling you a story you will remember for years. Not because of the plot, but because of the way their voice sounds when they describe the color of the sky the night they left home. You lean closer. The bartender sets down a glass you did not order. It tastes like something you forgot you loved.

The dream goes like this: you are walking alone through a field at dusk. The grass comes up to your waist. The air smells like rain that has not arrived yet. You do not know where you are going, and for once, that feels like enough. You stop and look up. The sky is doing something impossible with color. Pink, gold, the kind of violet that only exists in the five minutes before dark. You stand there until the first star shows up, and when it does, you make a wish you will not remember in the morning. But your body will. Your body always remembers the good ones.
